1. It puts you in a position to board a commercial jet aircraft, across the Atlantic between the U.S. and western Europe (involving the U.S. region of your choice, or, at your discretion, any region east of that region), at the very last minute before departure, when the transportation-provider (TP) knows that, if you are not in the seat, it will perish valueless, and thus is much more likely to accept you for boarding than it would have been previously, when there was a hope for them to sell the seat at a higher price.

1. It can't guarantee you a specific itinerary or date; only a generic itinerary/date from among the ones you generically specify. This is because of the statistics of supply and demand in the air transport industry.

2. It does this by (a) pre-convincing various transportation-providers  that it is in their benefit (because they have nothing to lose and something to gain by doing it!) to committing to board you on their flights at a cost far below their "normal" or "regular" fares; as and when they find they have last-minute seats available; and (b) providing you with enough options and alternatives and auxiliary information and assistance so that if you don't get on a specific flight, on a specific date, it's not the end of the world. This is the safety-net feature of Airhitching, and one of the things that makes it possible for you to do this whereas on your own you probably would not be able to do it!

2. It does not guarantee that tickets will be issued (they rarely are, as the system is essentially ticketless) or that you will have a reservation, i.e., that any seat will ever be held in your name on any aircraft, in advance of you showing up at the counter on the day of the flight.
